Join in the fun and learn to weave a ribbed basket. We will take the traditional melon
basket patten an make our own unique version using reed and a variety of upcycled and
natural materials. This basket uses 12″ round hoops for handles, round ribs (reed) for
the framework, and flat reed for the weavers, plus anything else you want to add to the
basket (if it is pliable). You will learn how to weave a traditional “god’s eye” to bind the
handles together and create a space for the placement of the ribs. Multiple colors of flat
reed will be available to give your basket a distinctive look. There will also be plenty of
plain reed and natural materials. If you want to add yarn or fabric from your stash,
please bring it! This basket is a work of art and individual creativity, each one will be
unique. You will be so proud of yourself!
