Class 3 – 2/1/2022 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm
After practicing at home, come back, ask questions. Then we will learn how to ply singles.
This series will teach you:
wheel + wool = yarn to
wheel + wool + drafting technique = a specific type of yarn
We will cover in this class: Drafting techniques – short forward, short backward, spinning from the fold, and long draw.
Other techniques you will learn include: joining new fiber to singles, z twist vs. s twist, and plying singles into a 2 ply yarn.
By the end of this series of classes you will be comfortable with at least one drafting technique and be aware that there are more than one drafting technique, that wheel + wool + drafting technique = a specific type of yarn!
Equipment needed: spinning wheel and fiber. The Guild will provide fiber for the first class. Wheels will be available for rent from the Guild for a nominal fee.
