I think we have enough volunteers to get this moving. Yesterday I sent an email to Strawberry Mansion to see if we can use their space. When I hear back, I will let you know. If anyone else has a connection to a space that is west of the city, please let me know. Dates will be determined by space availability.
Update: Strawberry Mansion replied to our request Sara will be talking to them this week to see if we can make it work. we are also looking at two locations in Awbury Arboretum. It looks like it will be a go once we have a location!! Woohoo!
While I love the idea of Strawberry Mansion–so beautiful a space! I’m concerned with how off-the-beaten-path it is. Somewhere where people can see our signage and walk in without knowing about it ahead of time or without necessarily planning to go there on the given day. Strawberry Mansion would mean we’d likely only get those who intended to come. Maybe an under-utilized church fellowship hall that doesn’t run its own holiday sale (so we wouldn’t be competing or confusing our sale with theirs)? One that wouldn’t mind if we set up for a few days, as long as we didn’t interfere with Sunday morning worship, perhaps. Overbrook Presbyterian Church just occurred to me: it’s in a good location, on a major intersection, has parking, transit availability, and not a lot of in-person activities, at least that I can see. It’s not at all central, but a LOT of traffic goes by, so with ahead-of-time signage we might do well. I have no connection to it and haven’t spoken with them, but somewhere like it could make for a great sale. I’ll keep thinking about similar locations….
For now, I think the sale is on hold for this year. No one really stepped up to take it on and we are having trouble finding a location. Strawberry Mansion is too expensive and so are the other places we checked. Hopefully we can make it work next year!
