The PGHW Dye Garden
The PGHW dye garden is currently in a hiatus. We are planning to rebuild the dye garden at our Guild, but need to resolve some landscaping challenges before we are able to restart the dye garden.
When we reopen, guild members will be encouraged to help maintain the plants, weed, water, and learn to harvest and process the dye plants.
For more information on participating in the dye garden contact dyegarden@pghw.org.
Our Previous Dye Garden Plot at Awbury Arboretum
The PGHW dye garden was previously held in the historic Germantown section of Philadelphia and within the grounds of Awbury Arboretum. The garden was established by Guild members many years ago and was comprised of 6 large beds in which a variety of plants used for natural dying were grown.
Awbury Arboretum is located at 1 Awbury Road. The Arboretum is comprised of 56 acres of beautiful landscape, the Cope House (original home to the family who purchased the land and built the house), a farm and other features.
Check out Awbury at https://awbury.org/. Awbury is free and open to the public dawn to dusk.
