Celebration of Fibers

Celebration of Fibers

What is Celebration of Fibers?

COF is PGHW’s annual exhibition of members’ work help annually at our guild house.

For those of you not familiar with this event, it is your chance to submit up to two (2) pieces of your work for the exhibition. You can choose to have your work judged or not. We encourage everyone regardless of skill level in their fiber craft to submit pieces of their work that they are most proud of.

Work must have been completed in 2021, 2022 or 2023. The judging will be done by two independent professionals in the fiber field.

Work can be ANY KIND of fiber art. This includes weaving, spinning, stitching, quilting, felting, basketry, knitting, crochet, sprang, braiding, embroidery, dyeing, hair art and any other craft with fiber in it. The only restriction is that the work cannot be made from a kit. For garments, it is fine to use both commercial or original patterns.

Last year we are adding a new award category for Celebration of Fibers–the Sustainability Award. This award will be given to one piece of work that, in the judges’ opinion, demonstrates a unique, creative and/or innovative use of re-purposed materials in a work of fiber art. Any type of fiber art is eligible for this award. The winning artist will receive a Certificate of Excellence in this category.

This celebration is not only an exhibit. It’s a learning experience, a gathering of like minded people and a teaching opportunity as our guild members open their hearts and minds to show our City of Fiberly Love how we encompass and express our love of the fiber arts.
