Beginning Weaving on a 4-Harness Loom w/ Lena Kolb (September 2026)

Get ready for this two day intensive beginning weaving course!

In this introductory class students will learn the fundamentals of weaving on a 4 harness floor loom. You will learn how to wind a warp, dress the loom from back to front, and read and understand weaving drafts and patterns. You will weave a sampler that explores various weaving techniques and by the end of the class students will have the knowledge to continue to explore weaving on their own.

Skill level: Beginner (no prior experience required)

Dates and Times: This workshop runs over 2 Saturdays, September 12 & 19, 2026 from 10am – 5pm

Supplies: All supplies will be provided by PGHW

Instructor Bio: 

Lena Kolb is an artist and educator living in Philadelphia PA. She has been weaving for over a decade, learning through the generosity of her community and peers. Lena received a BS in Elementary and Special Education and MFA in Fibers and Material Studies. Lena teaches weaving at Tyler School of Art, Temple University and local community focused spaces. Among other things Lena has worked at an ice cream shop, as an usher at a movie theater, a data entry goblin, an elementary school teacher, a rug weaver, a sales person at a western store, a medical record clerk, a professor and a packer for a moving company.
