In this workshop, participants will learn the heritage craft of cordage using a variety of plant fibers. Students will learn the skill of twisting fibers of varying lengths to create plant rope. We will then use these cordage ropes in a coiling technique to assemble a cordage basket to take home.
Experience the grounding art of cordage basketry as a practice in somatic embodiment. This workshop invites you to move beyond simple crafting into a state of active meditation, using the tactile rhythm of twisting and stitching fibers to anchor your awareness in the body.
Through the repetitive, sensory-rich motions of coiling, you will cultivate mind-body coherence and nervous system regulation. This session is designed to quiet mental chatter, foster a creative “flow” state, and leave you with a unique, hand-woven vessel—a physical map of your mindful presence.
