Members Meeting – Karin Bohleke: SEWING TO SURVIVE

April 8 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Needlework enthusiasts are very familiar with the embroidered samplers created by schoolgirls learning to sew. But starting in the nineteenth century, sewing  sampler compilations became popular, with examples fastened to each page of a book. This talk will examine Lillian Drum’s sewing sampler book, which she made while taking a WPA course during the Depression, as well her family life and struggles as a widow.
