CANCELED – Slow Stitch Wall Hanging with Whimsical Hanger w/ Kitty Savel (Spring 2026)

May 30 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Students who enjoy hand sewing and fabric collage will love this one-day workshop!

Slow stitching is the process of mindfully adding decoration to fabric through the use of applique, embellishments and simple embroidery stitches.

In this workshop, students will learn how to choose fabric and cut appliques to hand stitch onto a base fabric. They will learn and utilize several different embroidery stitches to create an 8”X 8” wall hanging complete with backing and hanging loops.  These embroidery stitches include French Knots, Split Stitch, Pistol Stitch, and Blanket Stitch (to name a few!). The finished wall hanging includes a whimsical hanger.

This class is all hand sewing.  Students will be introduced to a new portable textile skill using upcycled fabrics, embellishments and backing a small piece of fabric.
