This month local legend Judy Wicks visits the Guild! In person! Along with coalition leader Rachel Higgins, this dynamic duo will fill us in on their latest efforts to support a vibrant PA-based FIBERSHED under the banner of ALL TOGETHER NOWPA. Learn all about how building LOCAL supply chains can support a more sustainable future for our regional fashion & textile economy! Get inspired to connect the work you do as an artist or artisan to the local fibershed community.
After championing the farm to table movement through her restaurant the White Dog Cafe, Judy Wicks turned her attention to connecting rural and urban communities to build local supply chains providing self-reliance in basic needs, and founded the non-profit All Together Now PA in 2019. Judy is an activist, entrepreneur, author, and speaker working to build a more compassionate, just, regenerative and locally-based economy.
Rachel Higgins is a professor at Drexel University and Moore College of Art and Design. She has a background in sustainable fashion and is currently working with All Together Now PA as the Clothing and Textile Coalition Leader. Rachel is also working with Fibershed to map out our local textile supply chain for the state of Pennsylvania.
This event will be a hybrid – at the Guild House and on Zoom!
