This class will explore creating beautiful hand painted textile works. Students will use class time over 3 weeks to design and paint textile samples, leading to final projects like a custom hand painted garment or large wall hanging. Using wash-safe textile paint you will create unique textiles for your closet, home, or as fine art works. Students are welcome to provide garments to work on or can use provided fabric. Class time will be short introductory demos with an emphasis on hands-on.
This course will include textile paint, fabric to sample on, and pallets/brushes. Students are encouraged to bring various brushes (acrylic brushes work well), small containers to store colors, sketchbook and drawing tools, and textiles to work on in the later weeks of class, napkins, pillow covers, natural fiber garments, light colored fabrics.
For the first class there will be fabric provided and we will discuss ideal fabrics to paint on for the upcoming classes.
