Dear New Member,

Thank you for joining and welcome to Philadelphia Guild of Handweavers and Fiber Artists whereWe Learn by Doing and Grow by Sharing.

We are thrilled to have you as a new member and want to take a moment to  introduce you to some of the exciting things that make us a community.

Be sure and visit our new website, https://www.pghw.org/ where you can find all the information needed to make new friends, learn new ideas, and participate in our many activities. Please check out our Special Interest Groups (SIGs) which focus on specific fiber related areas.

Every Tuesday from 10 am to 11:30 am, many members meet for Portable Fibers.(via Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84914149084) a place for conversation and sharing. This is a great way to meet new members from the comfort of your own home, in a friendly atmosphere. All “Portable” fiber arts are welcome.

General Membership Meetings: These meetings, which include a speaker, occur on the first Thursday of the month, beginning at 7 pm.  Details appear in our monthly newsletter, The Gazette, which can be found online in the members section. The password is 3705Main! (Presently, due Covid we are not meeting at the Guild House until further notice. Meetings and events are via Zoom.)

Our Guild offers many events during the year that we encourage members to attend and volunteer for.  They include; Our annual Holiday Sale, where members sell their works,Celebration of Fibers, where members show their work in a juried exhibit at our Guild House, We have a very active Outreach Program where we organize volunteers around the city in many historical settings,

PGHW is very proud of our extensive and historical library, full of fiber related books, magazines, and periodicals that members may borrow. We invite you to peruse our inventory at one of our monthly meetings!

The Mid Atlantic Fiber Association (MAFA) represents over 60 guilds in this region.  Your guild membership in PGHW automatically makes you a member of the Mid Atlantic Fiber Association (MAFA)!  Every other year, MAFA sponsors a conference for all fiber artists that features internationally known instructors. You can attend workshops and classes and shop in the hall filled with colorful, retail vendors. Check it out here! www.mafafiber.org.

Thank you for joining, we hope to meet you in person at one of our events or a monthly meeting where you can find more inspiration to spark your creativity!
